Statement of Faith

HIS Purpose Statement

To encourage and support one another, enjoy each other’s fellowship, and
enrich the educational opportunities of our children.

Statement of Faith

Home Instructed Students (HIS) is a Christian homeschooling support group.  The capital letters reflect our reverence and devotion to God.  The letters themselves are an acronym for our purpose. .

§  We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6.

§  We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15.
§  We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God revealing the love of God to the world.
1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; John 3:16.

§  Our charge as parents is to shepherd our children. Our conviction is that as parents, we are the best, most appropriate educators of our children.
      Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:5-7

§  We firmly believe that even though our children are ours they are more importantly God’s.  We are accountable to Him for their care.
      Psalm 139:13-14; Isaiah 64:8
We recognize the contribution that those who are not Christian can make and have made in our group.  We welcome them warmly into our group, as long as the basic beliefs outlined above are respected within H.I.S. and at all H.I.S. events and forums.
